Jenny Tanner

Hi!  Welcome to a great year!  My name is Mrs. Tanner, and I am so excited to be teaching your child this year.  Third grade rocks!

Students are given ample time at the end of every day to write down their homework in their agenda books.  These agenda books must be brought home every night and have a parent/guardian signature and brought back to school the following day.  The agenda is the best way to stay connected to what is happening throughout the week.  This is the student's responsibility.

Graded folders are sent home every Monday, so you can see your child's work from the previous week.  Normally, on Fridays, we take a reading test and a spelling test.  On Thursday, the students take a practice spelling test.  If the student receives a 100% on the practice test, he or she does not have to take the test on Friday and is rewarded with a special treat from the treasure chest.

Spelling Homework will typically stay the same every week. On Mondays, the student writes the spelling words five times each.  On Tuesday nights, the student puts the words in alphabetical order.  On Wednesday nights, the student fills in the blank with the spelling words.  On Thursday night, the student studies for the test Friday.

I give study guides every Thursday for the reading test the following day.  Please use the study guides to help your child prepare for the test.
Your child will have homework every weeknight.  I do not normally assign homework over the weekend.  Also, many times, if a student uses his or her class time wisely, most of the homework that is assigned can be completed during class time.

Also, if you have not sent the $10 for the class t-shirts, please do so as soon as you can.  Our first event is coming up quickly, and I want to make sure every child has his or her shirt to wear.

We will have a great year!  We've had a lot of fun so far.  Any questions or concerns, please contact me at jtanner@wfschools.org or 618.937.1412 (ext. 149).
